Abstract
This lecture offers an “Arendtian” perspective on the events leading to October 7 and the war in Gaza. It examines the “long 2023” as the year when Israeli colonialism in the Occupied Palestinian Territories came back home. Against this background, it reflects on the question of genocide in Israel/Palestine from the perspective of develpments in the field of genocide studies in recent decades.
Dr. Shmuel Lederman specializes in political theory and genocide studies. He published a book and numerous articles on Hannah Arendt’s political thought, and currently works on a book on Arendt and genocide studies.
