In Collaboration With
The Azrieli Center for Israel Studies (MALI), The Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism
Workshop on: Multiple, Complex & Cascading Extreme Conditions
This workshop marks the launch of a pioneering field of inquiry into Extreme Conditions: Multiple, Complex & Cascading. Hosted by the Minerva Center for the Rule of Law Under Extreme Conditions, the event brings together early-career researchers and senior scholars to explore the intersections of armed conflict, natural disasters, pandemics, and socio-political upheavals. The workshop aims to lay the groundwork for this emerging field by integrating theoretical perspectives with in-depth case studies. Together, these approaches will help identify key challenges and generate new conceptual insights. Through discussions of both historical and contemporary examples, the workshop will help shape a forward-looking research agenda that addresses the complex and evolving nature of overlapping crises—and their far-reaching implications for democracy, governance, and the rule of law.
