Call for Applications: Post-Doctoral Fellowships

The Minerva Center for the Rule of Law under Extreme Conditions at the University of Haifa invites applications for Post-Doctoral scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year, as part of the Center’s ongoing project: Extreme Conditions: multiple, complex & cascading.

Research Focus Area: Extreme Conditions: multiple, complex & cascading

We welcome applications from candidates whose research engages with the intersection of democracy, the rule of law (domestic or international), and/or technology under conditions of extreme stress. These may include, but are not limited to, armed conflict, political instability, natural disasters, and compound emergencies involving multiple overlapping crises.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment and have the opportunity to participate in a bi-weekly international scholars’ forum, fostering exchange and collaboration with early-career researchers working on related themes.

Applicants:

Eligibility:
The Fellowship is open to researchers who were awarded their doctoral degree on or after October 1, 2021, or who have submitted their dissertation for review by the time of their application for this scholarship.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree (usually a PhD) in a relevant field such as law, political science, public policy, planning, or a related discipline.
  • A strong academic record and the ability to produce high-quality academic research.

A proposal which addresses the research areas mentioned above.

Submit Proposals – up to 5 pages specifying research program including areas of focus, methodology, goals and expected outputs. Applications must be accompanied by a curriculum vita and two names of potential recommenders familiar with his/her abilities.

Submission and Deadlines:

Please submit all application materials to Dr. Michal Ben Gal at  minervaextreme@univ.haifa.ac.il by July 15, 2024.

The selection process will take place in two stages. Applicants will be notified of the Center’s initial decision by July 22. Candidates who advance to the second stage will be asked to submit two letters of recommendation by July 29: one from their doctoral dissertation supervisor, and one from a senior faculty member at a recognized academic institution, in Israel or abroad.
